ADVISORS

The Brain Trust Behind the System.

Code 8 doesn't operate on gym opinion. The methodology is anchored in published research and continually pressure-tested against the latest exercise science. Two PhD-level researchers at the LSU School of Kinesiology advise the program.

ADVISOR 01

Dr. Neil M. Johannsen, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor · School of Kinesiology, Louisiana State University
Credentials
  • Ph.D. Iowa State University (2007) · Biologic Basis of Exercise
  • B.S. South Dakota State University (1998) · Chemistry
  • Faculty LSU School of Kinesiology
  • Adjunct Faculty Pennington Biomedical Research Center
  • Award Future Faculty Fellowship, Iowa State University
The Background.

Dr. Johannsen's research focuses on the biologic basis of exercise, with particular emphasis on exercise metabolism and the body's physiologic responses to fluid intake during training.

From 2007 to 2012, he was based at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center, where he played an integral role in more than ten research studies on physical activity and exercise training across athletic, lean, and clinically distinct populations. He remains on the Preventive Medicine team at Pennington as an Adjunct Assistant Professor.

At Iowa State, he received the Future Faculty Fellowship Award for outstanding scholarship and promise in higher education.

RESEARCH MEETS THE FIELD

How His Work Informs Code 8 Athletes.

01
Exercise Metabolism Foundations.

Different training intensities demand different fuel systems. Dr. Johannsen's metabolism research informs how Code 8 designs periodization. The plan respects what the body actually does, not what convenience says.

02
Hydration & Physiologic Protocols.

Hydration isn't "drink more water." It's a measurable protocol calibrated to training duration, intensity, sweat rate, and electrolyte loss. Code 8 applies that science directly to in-season durability.

03
Peer-Reviewed Rigor.

Years of peer-reviewed research at LSU and Pennington set a "test, measure, verify" standard most coaching never operates under. The methodology Code 8 uses to verify athlete progress draws from that rigor.
