Real Questions. Straight Answers.

Everything athletes, parents, and coaches actually ask before they commit. No hedging. No marketing speak. If we don't have a verified answer, we'll say so.

The Tools. What We Use and Why.

What makes Code 8 different from other training gyms?
Most gyms run general fitness programs. Code 8 runs engineered athletic development. Force plates, motion capture, and velocity-based tools assess how you actually move. That data builds your plan. Every adjustment is data-driven. Every result is verified.
What is a force plate, and why does it matter?
A force plate is a lab-grade tool that measures how much force you produce and how you produce it during jumps, landings, and direction changes. It quantifies power output, asymmetries, landing mechanics, and injury risk. Code 8 runs Hawkin Dynamics force plates, the same systems trusted at the NFL Combine, NBA training centers, and throughout college athletics. We use them to detect what the eye can't see and build the safer, more effective plan around it.
What does motion capture do?
Motion capture tracks your movement frame by frame during sport-specific actions like sprinting, cutting, jumping, and squatting. It reveals the joint-level mechanics the eye can't see. Powered by Valor Biomechanics. We use it to identify inefficient or risky movement patterns and engineer the corrections that actually move your numbers.
Can't a good coach just watch and see what's wrong?
Observation has limits. A great coach catches what the eye can catch. These tools quantify what the eye can't: force production, timing, balance, joint mechanics. The result is smarter, more personalized decisions. Less guessing. More verified output.
How often are force plates and motion capture used?
At baseline. At quarterly retests. And whenever the data tells us we need a fresh read. The technology isn't decoration. It's the system that confirms the plan is working, or exposes what isn't. For return-to-play athletes, it's the green light that says you're cleared to add intensity.

The Athletes. Who We Train.

Is this training safe for younger athletes?
Yes. Every program is built around the athlete's age, growth stage, and physical maturity. We emphasize movement quality and proper mechanics first. Load progressions are earned, not given. Long-term athletic development always wins over short-term peaking. This is why parents specifically trust Code 8 with their HS recruits.
Do you only work with elite or pro-level athletes?
No. We train motivated athletes at every level: HS recruits, college, pro, and athletes coming back from injury. The standard doesn't change. The plan does. We meet you where you are and engineer the path to where you're trying to go.
What sports do you train?
Football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, soccer, track and field, wrestling, and combat sports. Anything where verified speed, power, durability, and movement quality decide outcomes. The methodology adapts to the sport. The standard doesn't.
Will I be in a group or trained one-on-one?
Every athlete has their own program. Always. In small group sessions, you still train your own plan with your own data. The group adds the energy and accountability of a performance environment. The coaching attention stays on you.

The Work. How We Operate.

How do you track progress?
Real-time data from the technology. Power output, movement symmetry, biomechanical efficiency. Every block ends with a retest. Every retest produces a delta report showing what moved, what didn't, and what the next block needs to address. Progress is measurable and visible. The numbers either confirm the plan or expose what needs to change.
Can I train at Code 8 coming off an injury?
Yes. Return-to-play is one of our specialties. ACL, hamstring, lower extremity, concussion clearance. We use force plates and motion capture to measure symmetry, output, and movement quality side-by-side until the gap closes. The green light is the data, not a hunch.
Do you work with physical therapists or sport coaches?
Yes. We work alongside, not against, your existing team. PTs, ATs, sport coaches, team medical staff, parents. When the athlete benefits from collaboration, we collaborate. The goal is always the athlete's verified progress, not who gets credit for it.

Get Started. Or Get Closer.

How do I get started?
Every athlete starts with a free 30-minute consult with Coach Chris. If we're a mutual fit, we book your in-person performance evaluation. From there, we engineer your plan around your data, your sport, and your schedule. No commitment to book the consult. No pressure on the call.
Where are you located?
Code 8 trains athletes at two San Luis Obispo County locations: Aligned Coaching in Pismo Beach and The Warehouse in San Luis Obispo. We serve athletes across the Five Cities and SLO County. For athletes outside the area, we offer structured remote programming with periodic in-person retests.
STILL HAVE QUESTIONS?
Send a Direct Line to Coach Chris.

Anything we didn't cover. Anything specific to your situation. Anything you'd ask the consult call about. Send it. You'll get a real answer from Coach Chris.
